The Serbian Restitution Network criticized Friday the government answers to the European Commission questionnaire regarding the restitution of seized property, which state vaguely that something will be done in 2011.

The Serbian Restitution Network criticized Friday the government answers to the European Commission questionnaire regarding the restitution of seized property, which state vaguely that something will be done in 2011.

The fact the answers do not mention the great number of difficulties that people face in trying to get their property back is a scandalous attempt to conceal the basic information about restitution in Serbia, the network stated.

Its announcement notes that irresponsible and selfish individuals within the government have put their own or their party's interest above that of the country and its people.

The government has been ignoring the demand to provide information about property restitution, which was issued by the information commissioner, the announcement continues.

The public is still denied the information that the several percent of government property that form the total of restitution demands is supposedly worth EUR 101-220 billion.
