Commenting on reactions in the region to Serbia's strategy on the Serbs in the Diaspora, President Boris Tadic on March 16 said Serbia dos not interfere in the internal affairs of its neighbors.

Commenting on reactions in the region to Serbia's strategy on the Serbs in the Diaspora, President Boris Tadic on March 16 said Serbia dos not interfere in the internal affairs of its neighbors.

"Exclusively the Serb nationals in Montenegro have the right to fight for their constitutional position. The state of Serbia has no right to interfere in Montenegro's internal affairs," Tadic said after opening Serbia's consular office in Montenegro's coastal town of Herceg Novi.

The president stressed that only the citizens of Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia can define their own constitutions and within them the right to be a constitutive people.

Tadic explained that Serbia does not consider the Serbs living in the region as the Diaspora.

Together with his Montenegrin counterpart Filip Vujanovic, Tadic opened Serbia's consular office in Herceg Novi, which will operate for the territory of coastal towns of Budva, Tivat and Kotor.

The two presidents agreed that opening of the consulate establishes yet another bridge of cooperation between the two countries, which is a precondition for further connection of the two countries and their citizens.

Earlier, Tadic visited Niksic, where he met with Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro Bishop Joanikije.
