On March 19, Serbian President Boris Tadic met with Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne in Turin, who confirmed that the Italian company's investment in Serbia was unfolding at the planned rate.
At Centro Stile Fiat, the company's car industry department, Marchionne told Tadic that the production date for its new car was the end of 2011.
The planned number of workers who will manufacture the car is 2,500, while the entire project, including the manufacture of car components will require 4,500 to 5,000 employees.
Fiat's new, high-technology model will be manufactured exclusively in Serbia.
