Radioactivity in Serbia far below dangerous levels

The Serbian Interior Ministry's Sector for Emergency Situations announced Saturday that  the levels of radioactive particles detected in the environment are far below those considered dangerous to health, and stressed there is no need for additional protection.

The Serbian Interior Ministry's Sector for Emergency Situations announced Saturday that, according to the data from the Agency for Ionizing Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety of Serbia, the levels of radioactive particles detected in the environment are far below those considered dangerous to health, and stressed there is no need for additional protection.

The cloud carrying radioactive particles from the Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan has reached Europe, but there is no cause for concern over radiation levels in Serbia, or anywhere in Europe, reads the statement.

The early alert system which measures radiation in Serbia has recorded normal levels.

The Interior Ministry and other services are monitoring the readings and informing the public that there is no reason to be concerned, reads the release.
