The third international tennis tournament Serbia Open will be held in Belgrade from April 23 - May 1 gathering 28 players, who will be headed by world number two Novak Djokovic, it was announced in the Belgrade City Assembly on Wednesday.

The third international tennis tournament Serbia Open will be held in Belgrade from April 23 - May 1 gathering 28 players, who will be headed by world number two Novak Djokovic, it was announced in the Belgrade City Assembly on Wednesday.

Belgrade Mayor Dragan Djilas underscored that all citizens of Belgrade are proud that the tournament has become recognized worldwide.

“This year, RSD 10 million will be allocated for the tournament,” Djilas said.

The Belgrade mayor said that Serbia Open is one of the three most important events held in the capital.

“Apart from the Book Fair and the Belgrade Marathon, this tournament is our most important event,” Djilas said.

Director of Serbia Open Goran Djokovic, the father of Novak Djokovic, underlined that this year as well, the Belgrade ATP tournament will be a real sports treat for all our citizens.

I hope that this competition will reach the ATP World Tour 500 category and even 1000 category in the coming years, Djokovic said.

The price fund of Serbia Open totals EUR 416,000.
