58th Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival to open

The 58th Documentary and Short Film Festival will open at Belgrade's Youth Center on Wednesday evening by screening of two movies “Yugo, a Short Autobiography” by Serbian director Mina Djukic and “Farewell” by Croatia's Irena Skoric.

The 58th Documentary and Short Film Festival will open at Belgrade's Youth Center on Wednesday evening by screening of two movies “Yugo, a Short Autobiography” by Serbian director Mina Djukic and “Farewell” by Croatia's Irena Skoric.

Under the slogan 'Enjoy', 73 films (29 national, 44 international) will be competing for the awards in four categories- documentary, animated, short and experimental until April 3.

The best movies will be selected by the jury comprised of: directors Irena Skoric (Croatia), Ventura Durall (Spain), Vladimir Blazevski (Macedonia), director of photography Milorad Glusica (Serbia) and Professor Rainer M. Koeppl from Vienna. This year, the festival will also have a student jury.

As regards the special programme, the focus will be on the movies from Iran and Palestine, the other segments being 'Portuguese Animation', 'Croatian Spring in Belgrade' and accompanying programme 'New Light - New Talks' screening movies filmed by mobile phones and other alternative technology devices.
