Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia Vincent Degert stated that the integration process depends on the speed and intensity with which reforms are carried out in Serbia, saying that the year 2011 is a year of opportunity and whether Serbia will take advantage of this depends on Serbia only.

In his interview to the Tanjug news agency, Degert said that reforms in Serbia should be clear, credible and implemented because of Serbian citizens.

He added that in evaluating the reform process, concrete results will be reviewed. The European Commission must be convinced that Serbia has fulfilled the task set before it and then all the 27 member states have to vote on that, Degert said.

He underlined that the reform laws are not being adopted just to satisfy the Government or the Parliament, but they have to be applied as well.

"This is why the expert missions come to Serbia, to see how these laws are implemented, and possibly what the problems are," explained the Head of EU Delegation in Serbia.
