Slovakian diplomat Miroslav Lajcak has said that he would not be EU's envoy in Kosovo, e-media from Pritina reported Thursday.
Lajcak, who opposed the unilaterally proclaimed Kosovo independence while he was serving as Slovakia's foreign minister, said he would not represent the EU in Kosovo during a discussion in the European Parliament.
The final decision on who will be a temporary EU envoy for Kosovo is due to be reached in Brussels later this week, and one of the candidates is former Italian ambassador to Kosovo Fernando Gentilini.
The mandate of the current EU Representative in Kosovo, Pieter Feith, is expiring at the end of the month.
