Serbian Progressive Party deputy president Aleksandar Vucic said late on April 19 that the party would not stop putting pressure on the authorities and announced that it could "invite all of Serbia to Belgrade" next week.
Vucic told reporters at a private clinic in New Belgrade where party leader Tomislav Nikolic was under medical observation that Nikolic had an odd taste in his mouth caused by not taking any water.
"He [Nikolic] is experiencing kidney problems because an excess of urea was found in his blood which necessitated treatment," Vucic said.
When asked whether Nikolic would be hooked up to a drip as agreed by Nikolic and his family, Vucic answered that he did not know but that it was not great to be "attached to tubes."
Vucic also announced that the party would continue staging protests around Serbia and that a rally would be organized in front of the Vojvodina Radio and TV building on April 20, while another rally would be held in front of the state TV and radio network headquarters in Belgrade.
"We will hold protests in front of every servant of the regime," Vucic explained.
Nikolic embarked on a hunger and thirst strike early on April 16, demanding early elections.
