Italian diplomat Fernando Gentilini will be the new EU resident representative in Kosovo, the Pristina daily Zeri reported Tuesday, adding that his mandate will last three months.

Gentilini will take over the office from Dutchman Pieter Feith, and the final decision will soon be made by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, said the paper's sources inside the EU. Gentilini is involved in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.

The appointment of the former Italian ambassador to Kosovo has been approved by all EU members countries.

Ashton, who proposed Gentilini for the position, will soon officially appoint him to the office. Feith, who has been in Kosovo since 2008, will continue to work in Pristina after April 30, but only as the head of the International Civilian Office which does not have a limited mandate.
