The deadline for submitting the appeal against the ruling on extradition of former general of Republika Srpska armed forces Ratko Mladic to the ICTY expires Monday.

The deadline for submitting the appeal against the ruling on extradition of former general of Republika Srpska armed forces Ratko Mladic to the ICTY expires Monday.

Mladic's lawyer Milos Saljic announced that the appeal will be lodged on Monday, and that it will most likely be sent by mail.

After the appeal reaches the court, which could happen Monday at the earliest, a three-judge court chamber will decide on it within three days.

If the chamber dismisses the appeal, the extradition ruling will become absolute and will be forwarded to the justice minister for validation, who will make a final decision on Mladic's extradition to the ICTY.

The decision on the fulfillment of conditions for Mladic's extradition was made by the investigative judge of the War Crimes Department of the Belgrade Higher Court.

Mladic was arrested on May 26, and he will remain in the detention unit of the Special Court in Belgrade until conditions for his extradition have been met.
