The Republika Srpska wartime general Ratko Mladic will appear before the Hague tribunal on June 3 to enter a plea to the charges for genocide and crimes against humanity against non-Serbs in Bosnia-Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995.
The retired general is to appear in court room number 1, at 10 am.
Judge Alphons Orie from the Netherlands will ask Mladic to confirm his identity, and will ask him whether he has read the indictment and whether he understands the counts. The judge can order the reading of the whole indictment or only certain parts.
Orie will then ask the indictee whether he wishes to enter a plea to the indictment counts. Mladic may decide to enter a plea or delay it for a month.
As Mladic has not yet appointed a defense counsel, the tribunal has appointed Belgrade lawyer Aleksandar Aleksic to represent him.
Under the amended indictment, Mladic is charged with 11 counts - for genocide, crimes against humanity against non-Serbs and violations of the laws and customs of war in B-H in the period 1992-95.
