Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac said on June 29 that the agreement with NATO on the security of information and on the code of action is a typical contract that will not jeopardize the security of the country and its citizens, nor bring Serbia closer to membership in this military alliance.

Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac said on June 29 that the agreement with NATO on the security of information and on the code of action is a typical contract that will not jeopardize the security of the country and its citizens, nor bring Serbia closer to membership in this military alliance.

"If they are not ratified, this would mean that Serbia is isolating itself in the field of defense and that would be bad for the safety of the country and its citizens," Sutanovac said in the Serbian parliament during a debate on the ratification of several international agreements.

While responding to criticism of opposition deputies, who stated that the agreements directly violated the sovereignty of Serbia, he said that they contain no provision that would jeopardize the country's safety, but regulate the ways in which information is kept and exchanged.

"This is not a conspiracy that takes Serbia closer of farther away from NATO, this is a typical agreement that all NATO member states have signed, but also another 40 countries that have the same status as Serbia," Sutanovac said.
