Harvest almost over, wheat crop estimated at two million tons

Around 40 percent of Serbia's wheat fields have been harvested, with the average yield at 3.5 to four tons per hectare on private fields, and over seven tons per hectare expected on fields owned by large agricultural collectives, and this year's total crop estimated at around two million tons, experts told Tanjug on Friday.

They expect the harvesting of bread wheat, sown on over 490,000 hectares, will be completely finished by the end of next week, weather permitting.
