Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic and head of the Belgrade team in the dialogue with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic have started a meeting in Zvecan with the representatives of Serbs from northern Kosovo, to discuss the current situation in that part of the province.
The meeting, which began at about 10 am, is attended by the representatives of the municipalities of Zvecan, Kosovska Mitrovica and Leposavic - Dragisa Milovic, Krstimir Pantic and Branko Ninic respectively, as well as head of the Kosovska Mitrovica District Radenko Nedeljkovic.
The meeting will focus on the current situation in northern Kosovo brought about after Kosovo police special units attempted to take over two administrative crossings in this part of the province.
Roadblocks which Serbs set up so as to prevent the Kosovo police from taking control over the check point of Jarinje can still be seen in Zvecan, on the highway running to the administrative border crossing. Local Serbs say they will remove the barricades during the day if the agreement reached between Serbian officials and KFOR commander is fulfilled.
After the meeting, Bogdanovic and Stefanovic are also supposed to meet KFOR commander Erhard Buehler. The talks should focus on the agreement on the withdrawal of Kosovo special police units, which was reached on Tuesday evening somewhat after 8 pm and the reaction of Belgrade, as well as the international community, to the attempt of Kosovo authorities to seize Jarinje administrative crossing.
