International Plum Fair in Osecina kicks off today

The 6th International Plum Fair under the auspices of the Serbian government and organized by the Municipal Assembly of Osecina, northwestern Serbia, will kick off on Friday.

The 6th International Plum Fair under the auspices of the Serbian government and organized by the Municipal Assembly of Osecina, northwestern Serbia, will kick off on Friday.

This is the largest fruit fair in Serbia gathering about 300 exhibitors from Serbia, former Yugoslav republics, Russia, Austria and other countries.

The fair will be opened by Serbian Minister of Culture, Media and Information Society Predrag Markovic.

The three-day fair will include discussions on plum production, assortment and export.

In the territory of the Osecina municipality, there are over a million plum trees, and 20,000 tons of plums are exported every year, half of which is in form of dried plums and other products.
