The police arrested six individuals in Belgrade on Sunday, including one person who tried to call for a protest in front of the Serbian parliament building, Assistant Police Director Srdjan Grekulovic told Tanjug.

The authorities found masks and baseball bats on five other individuals, and all six arrestees were prosecuted and handed over to investigative judges, Grekulovic specified.

He underscored that regardless of the arrests, the situation on Belgrade streets is peaceful.

Police forces on the streets of Belgrade have been reinforced out of precaution so as to prevent any potential attempt at violating the ban of high-risk meetings over the weekend. The units of operating officers and intervention units have also been additionally strengthened with a view to ensuring that the ban on public meetings is fully respected.

On Friday, the Interior Ministry imposed a ban on several gatherings scheduled for the weekend, including the Pride Parade, on the basis of security assessments.
