The representatives of the local self-government of northern Kosovo announced on Sunday that the citizens will persevere in their requests for Kosovo customs officers and police to be removed from the Jarinje and Brnjak crossings, adding that they are prepared to remain at the barricades during the forthcoming winter.

The night in northern Kosovo-Metohija went by peacefully, and the citizens continued keeping guard at the barricades set on roads towards the Jarinje and Brnjak administrative crossings, as well as the main roads in Kosovo.

There are currently 18 barricades, one of which is located outside of the territory of the southern Serbian province, on the road running from central Serbia towards Jarinje.

The representatives of the local self-government of northern Kosovo announced on Sunday that the citizens will persevere in their requests for Kosovo customs officers and police to be removed from the Jarinje and Brnjak crossings, adding that they are prepared to remain at the barricades during the forthcoming winter.

They have also announced they will respond to any attempt of international forces to remove the barricades by setting two new ones.

The murder of a Serb in the village of Zrze, Orahovac municipality, which occurred on Saturday night, disturbed the Kosovo Serbs.

According to the police, Aleksandar Putnik (51) was murdered, while his son Dobrica (25) was wounded as they were shot near a restaurant some time after midnight.

The Serbian Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija requested that the EULEX police should take over the investigation into the attack because the local Serb community has no trust in the Kosovo police.

The Serbs in northern Kosovo celebrated on Sunday evening the gold medal won by Serbia's women's national volleyball team at the European Championship in Belgrade, by raising flags and setting off firework.
