The political relations between Ukraine and Serbia are on a high level, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said during the talks with Serbian Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic Dejanovic on Friday, adding that additional efforts need to be invested in further enhancement of economic cooperation.

Attending the summit of the Central European Initiative (CEI) in Belgrade, Azarov said that exchange of high-level visits contributes to improvement of relations to a considerable extent, and expressed satisfaction that Serbian President Boris Tadic would soon visit Ukraine, the parliament released.

Azarov believes that efforts need to be invested in further enhancement of economic cooperation since both countries have expressed interest in this.

Djukic Dejanovic recalled that her visit to Kiev and the visit of Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Vladimir Litvin to Belgrade additionally broadened possibilities for intensifying the cooperation between the two countries' parliaments.

In this light, Djukic Dejanovic underscored that parliamentary cooperation constitutes an important factor in improving bilateral relations and added that she will do all she can to improve the parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Ukraine, especially on the level of committees and friendship groups.
