DS and SNS nearly tied, Tadic most trusted

The Democratic Party (DS) and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) enjoy almost identical support, while Serbian President Boris Tadic is the most trusted politician, according to a poll conducted by New Serbian Political Thought magazine.

The poll results presented Friday show 28.48 percent of voters would opt for the SNS, 27 percent for the DS and 8.3 percent for the Socialist Party of Serbia.

In a survey conducted on the ground and covering 1,200 people in Serbia, Kosovo not included, 7.1 percent of the respondents said they would support the Serbian Radical Party, which shared the fourth spot with the Democratic Party of Serbia.

The Liberal Democratic Party can count on 6.6 percent of the vote, the United Regions of Serbia on 3.2 percent and United Serbia on 2.6 percent.

Next are the Rasim Ljajic's Social Democratic Party of Serbia and Nenad Canak's League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina with 2.2 percent each, while the remaining parties would win a combined total of 5.3 percent.

Asked whether they would vote in the parliamentary election if it took place next week, 62 percent of respondents said yes, 21.3 percent no, while 16.7 percent were undecided.

According to the poll, the most trusted politician in Serbia is the president (11.2 percent), followed by Tomislav Nikolic with 10.9 percent, Dragan Djilas with five percent, Ivica Dacic with 4.7 percent, Dragan Markovic with 4.6 percent, while Milutin Mrkonjic, Velimir Ilic and Vuk Draskovic sit at the bottom of the list with 0.5 percent each.
