Tadic called on all members of KFOR, EULEX and political representatives of Kosovo Serbs to ensure freedom of movement and prompt resolution of the situation through dialogue and without use of violence, adding that lives of Serbian citizens and members of international institutions need to be preserved in every possible way.

Serbian President Boris Tadic called on competent bodies to put an urgent stop to conflicts between KFOR members and local citizens in the village of Jagnjenica, on the road from Kosovska Mitrovica to Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo.

Tadic called on all members of KFOR, EULEX and political representatives of Kosovo Serbs to ensure freedom of movement and prompt resolution of the situation through dialogue and without use of violence, adding that lives of Serbian citizens and members of international institutions need to be preserved in every possible way.

In a statement for the media, Tadic underscored that escalation of conflicts calls Serbia's national interests into question and noted that it all delays the possibility of reaching a compromise and sustainable solution in Kosovo-Metohija.

KFOR and EULEX are bound by international acts to contribute to resolving the situation by their actions, and political leaders of Serbs need to prevent extremists from jeopardising personal safety of their compatriots and international representatives in Kosovo, Tadic said and noted that only peace, dialogue and resolution of problems are the exit from the current and any other crisis situation.
