Unkown vandals have desecrated a Serb church in an eastern Kosovo town and stole a certain amount of money and a number of sacred objects they found inside.
Unkown vandals have desecrated a Serb church in an eastern Kosovo town and stole a certain amount of money and a number of sacred objects they found inside.
The church in the town of Kosovska Kamenica has been desecrated, Secretary of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Raska and Prizren Sava Smigic told Tanjug late Friday.
Smigic said that unknown persons desecrated icons, sacred vessels and the throne and stole a sum of money in the church located in the town's center.
The theft and desecration of the church was also confirmed for Tanjug by regional spokesman for of Kosovo's police Ismet Hasani, who said that police had conducted an on the spot investigation and that further investigation was underway.
The police spokesman added that the perpetrators had damaged the front door of the church during the theft, which occurred a few days ago.
Head of the Kamenica municipality Saip Surduli today condemned this act of vandalism and asked the police to shed light on the case.
