Since 2001, USAID has invested more than USD662.5 million to stimulate economic development, strengthen the judicial system and promote good management in Serbia.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) marked a decade of work in Serbia and half a century of offering assistance around the world at an official ceremony in the Cultural Center in Novi Pazar.

U.S. Ambassador Mary Warlick said at the ceremony that she was very proud of all the programs and activities which have taken place in this part of Serbia over the last 10 years and said she was convinced that work on the economic development of this region would continue in the future.

"We will continue working on the economic development of this region, because we recognize great economic problems here," said Mary Warlick.

USAID Serbia Mission Director Susan Fritz underscored that special attention had recently been paid to the textile sector in Novi Pazar, as well as work with young people who are mostly unemployed.

U.S. Ambassador Mary Warlick, together with State University of Novi Pazar Rector Cemal Dolicanin, on April 19 also opened a Careers Center at that higher education institution, which aims to help young people find jobs more easily.
