Serbia's future is certain if the country continues to follow the same path, and every other political path offered ahead of the forthcoming elections is uncertain and risky, said Boris Tadic, the presidential candidate of Choice for a Better Life coalition.
Serbia's future is certain if the country continues to follow the same path, and every other political path offered ahead of the forthcoming elections is uncertain and risky, said Boris Tadic, the presidential candidate of Choice for a Better Life coalition.
"According to all assessments, this is the last year of the world economic crisis, and my team is ready to move forward in a flying start when the crisis ends," Tadic told the Belgrade daily Vecernje novosti.
"Now there is no atmosphere of violence in the society as four years ago. Serbia has changed in a positive way. We completed significant phases in the judicial reform and the fight against organized crime, and we have achieved great results," said Tadic, who is also the leader of the Democratic Party.
When asked about Serbia's greatest success in the past four years, he said that this was the obtaining of the EU candidate status. As Tadic put it, if Serbia follows the same path, it will certainly be in the EU in 2020.
He pointed out that it would be good to set up the new government as soon as possible.
"I said clearly with whom the DS and the bloc it leads cannot join in a coalition. These are the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), the Serbian Radical Party and the Democratic Party of Serbia. Others we can talk with," Tadic stressed.
Coalition with the SNS was never an option, he said, adding that the SNS is "not a reliable partner with whom we could do something useful for Serbia and continue with the reforms."
Asked if the future prime minister should be a strong political figure or a non-party expert, Tadic said that this has to be a strong political figure who has knowledge and experience.
