Free Telenor Internet in the park near Vuk's monument

Owing to co-operation of company Telenor and the Belgrade City Assembly, the free Internet will be available in several Belgrade parks, while next in the line are the parks “Proleće“ and “Skejt park“ in Novi Beograd. Throughout this year, the Internet parks will be opened in Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Niš, Čačak and Novi Sad as well, where access to the Internet will also be free of charge

Park located near Vuk’s monument is the first Belgrade-based park that got the free Telenor Internet this year. Citizens will be able to use the Telenor Internet for free in the next two years.

Owing to co-operation of company Telenor and the Belgrade City Assembly, the free Internet will be available in several Belgrade parks, while next in the line are the parks “Proleće“ and “Skejt park“ in Novi Beograd. Throughout this year, the Internet parks will be opened in Kraljevo, Kragujevac, Niš, Čačak and Novi Sad as well, where access to the Internet will also be free of charge.

Last June, Serbia got its first Internet Park in history, when Telenor’s signal in the Studentski park enabled access to the fast Internet in open space. After Belgrade, citizens of Novi Sad, Niš, Kraljevo and Kragujevac also got the Internet parks. Telenor’s 3G signal, which enables the fast Internet, reaches today almost 45 percent of citizen all over Serbia in more than 200 cities and towns.

The Internet park near Vuk’s monument was opened today by Dragan Đilas, the Mayor of Belgrade, and Kjell-Morten Johnsen, the General Director of Telenor Serbia.

“The Internet availability and PC literacy have been criteria for the level of development of a society for years. We want to believe, that with projects like this one, Telenor Serbia contributes to fast joining of Serbia to a group of developed countries in accordance with this criteria as well,“ says Kjell-Morten Johnsen, CEO of Telenor.

Telenor company has prepared a plan for every park individually, it set the equipment and will take care of its maintenance.

The City of Belgrade, with the support of the Secretariat for Utilities and Housing Services, PUC „Zelenilo Beograd“ and the Energy Office, will accommodate lighting for parks and arrangement of public space.

The Internet in parks also encourages development of touristic offer of the city, and enables visitors of Belgrade to feel like they are in any other world metropolis where they can be informed about what is happening in their country in the real time, and where they are enabled to know more about the city they are visiting, in the quickest way.

Telenor is seventh largest world mobile operator in the world with 166 million clients, 2.863 million of which are in Serbia. This company has a reputation of an innovator in domain of mobile telephony. After the investment worth EUR1.513bn, which was pronounced for the highest individual investment in the Southeast Europe, Telenor has officially been operating in Serbia since September 1, 2006.
