Deripaska Ahead of Abramovich

Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich has lost his title of the richest Russian, but managed to retain the one he wished to get rid of.
London Chelsea FC owner Abramovich gave way to aluminium magnate Oleg Deripaska as the richest Russian. Deripaska is now worth US$ 21.2bn, while the Russian edition of the Forbes magazine estimated Abramovich’s wealth at US$ 18.3bn. In December, Ambramovich said he would retire from his post as Chukotka governor but the Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed his demand to step down as the top official of the poor region twice the size of Germany. Putin thus, in this way, reminded all of the main rules of the game, which are still valid in Russia, apparently in a bid to maintain control over the oligarchs ahead of Russia’s presidential vote next year.
