Investigation of Air India plane crash in Mangalore on May 22, that left 158 people dead, found that the pilot was sleeping throughout the flight and that he was disoriented during the landing, Indian media reported.

Hindustan Times stated that the inquest concluded that pilot Zlatko Glusica, a Serbian citizen, slept half the flight and was disoriented and with slow responses during the landing to Mangalore, south India.

A government official who did not want to be named told the Associated Press news agency that Indian media reports about the findings were accurate.

The pilot was also killed in the crashed, while eight people survived. It was the deadliest disaster in India since 1996, when almost 350 people died in a mid-collision of two airplanes near New Delhi.
