A European Gas Conference 2011 kicked off January 26 in Vienna, SOCAR says. The European Gas Conference bridges the gap between the commercial and the political by uniting senior policy makers with CEOs of gas and power companies to discuss the future of the natural gas industry.
The gas market is inherently political, and in order to facilitate market development, the event will unite senior level energy ministers with leading multi-national corporations including gas majors, transmission system operators, power companies and analysts.
They will debate crucial issues such as security of supply, diversification of sources, the effects of legislation, how the post-financial crisis has affected the market, how to overcome the current oversupply and the impact of the de-coupling of oil and gas prices and the emergence of short term contracts.
Also the participants will examine the changing dynamics of the European gas market and understand the advantages of uniting North, East, South, West and Central Europe to present a comprehensive pan-European view, facilitating the creation of a single, free gas market; hear the latest developments in unconventional gas, and understand the roadmap and effects Shale gas will have on the natural gas market in Europe.
The conference will run till January 29
