Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) stated they managed to stop the leakage of radioactive water from the damaged nuclear plant Fukushima-Daiichi into the Pacific ocean.

TEPCO stopped the leakage of the water from the crack in concrete pit next to the two reactors by injecting 1,500 litres of sodium silicate (compound also known as water glass) into the ground close to the pit, so that it solidifies, world media report.

NP Fukushima-Daiichi was badly damaged in the earthquake that hit Japan on March 11, causing a tsunami.
