Turkey's President Abdullah Gul designated on Wednesday Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is also the chairman of the Justice & Development (AK) Party, to form the new government.

Turkey's President Abdullah Gul designated on Wednesday Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is also the chairman of the Justice & Development (AK) Party, to form the new government.

Gul received Erdogan at the Presidential Residence in Ankara, and designated Erdogan to form the 61st government of Turkey.

AK Party won 327 seats in the June 12 general elections.
