More than eight tons acetic anhydride was seized during special operation of the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC), the press office of the Ministry of Interior announced. The operation was carried together with United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Operative investigation began in December last year, and the active phase - about a month ago. Specialized operation was held today in Sofia and Gurmazovo, near Bozhurishte.

Actions of the counternarcotics units, representatives of the U.S. DEA and carried under the supervision of the prosecution were continuation of the operations against drug distribution which started last night. In Sofia and Haskovo was seized a total of about 1 kg of amphetamine.

Eight tons of acetic anhydride has been seized in the village of Gurmazovo, Municipality Bojurishte during operation of General Directorate Combating Organized Crime (GDCOC).

One ton of raw material is sufficient to produce 400 kilograms of heroin. Currently one gram of heroin on the black market costs around BGN 60.
