More than a half of Croatians aged above 15 use the Internet

In Croatia, 53 percent of the population above the age of 15 uses the Internet, according to a survey conducted by the Gfk Croatia pollster in July.

In Croatia, 53 percent of the population above the age of 15 uses the Internet, according to a survey conducted by the Gfk Croatia pollster in July.

According to the survey, carried out on a representative sample of 1,000 respondents older than 15, a total of 1.85 million Croatians go to the Internet.

Last year, 49 percent of Croatians above 15 used the Internet.

This year's percentage is at the same level as in Italy or Poland. However, Croatia is behind the Czech Republic or Hungary with 59 percent. For instance, in Slovakia and Slovenia the number of Internet users is as high as 65 percent.

Broken down by region, Istria and Primorje with 67 percent and Dalmatia with 60 percent have pushed to the third place the capital city of Zagreb and its surroundings with 56 percent.

In cities with the population of more than 100,000, as many as 67 percent of residents use the Internet.

Male users account for 58 percent of Internet users.

Broken down by education, people with university education make up 80 percent of Internet users in Croatia.

Broken down by age, the Internet is most popular among young people aged between 15 and 24 years as 90 percent of them go to the Internet. Only nine percent of Croatians above 65 years of age go to the Internet.
