The governor confirmed what was said by President Traian Basescu Sunday night, that is that the terms and conditions of a new agreement with the IMF and European Commission had been agreed upon.
The agreement will be concluded for a period of two years, with EUR 3.6 bln from the IMF and EUR 1.4 bln from the EC. As the president said, the new agreement will be a precautionary arrangement, with no actual financing.
‘The money from the IMF can only be drawn in a serious situation such as an attack on the currency triggered by a regional crisis and leading to massive loss of reserve and trust,’ Isarescu said.
