BiH: Only 5% of households attached to waste water treatment systems

Final seminar of project ''Support to water policy in BiH'' was held today in premises of Delegation of EU to BiH, financed by million euros by EU.

Final seminar of project ''Support to water policy in BiH'' was held today in premises of Delegation of EU to BiH, financed by million euros by EU.

Project included preparation of plan documents for transfer and introduction of EU standards in BiH and making of sub-legal acts, principally for control of waste water emission and protection zones around drinking water sources.

EU has directives, regulative and legislative which is demanding and comprehensive and it covers issue of drinking water and the issue of waste waters. According to the standards, there should be certain number of systems for refinement of waste waters of certain capacity for certain number of people.

"The remaining open issue is how to secure financial support for projects which are necessary for the water area in BiH to be regulated according the European standards'', Chief of Department of Operations for economic development, natural resources and infrastructure to Delegation of EU to BiH Johann Hesse said.

Hesse stated that only 5% of households in BiH are attached to some of rare systems for waste water treatment.
