Basic Court Skopje I sentenced Tuesday United for Macedonia leader and former minister of interior Ljube Boskoski to 7 years in prison for illicit financing of pre-election campaign and abuse of official position.
Boskoski's wife said she knew that her husband would be given such an "enormous sentence".
According to Violeta Boskoska, justice would be sought before an international court, since she did not expect neither the Appellate Court nor the Supreme Court to alter the judgment.
Ljube Boskoski was arrested in front of a Skopje restaurant a day after the June 5 elections. According to the indictment, he took on three occasions EUR 130,000 from an individual who appeared at the trial as a protected witness. The funds were used for illicit financing of the pre-election campaign.
