High Representative Valentin Inzko and Principal Deputy High Representative Roderick Moore met with BiH Finance and Treasury Minister Nikola Spiric today.

Congratulating Minister Spiric on his appointment, High Representative Inzko remarked on the new sense of purpose and hope which has come with the new government, as well as the expectation that the new government will accelerate reforms to bring the country closer to NATO and the EU.

“As a matter or priority, the international community expects the responsible authorities to ensure that the Global Fiscal Framework for 2012-2014 and the State Budget for 2012 are adopted without delay and in full compliance with the Constitutional procedures and the relevant legislation. Additionally, the budget level needs to be sufficient to provide for the full functioning of state-level institutions and the fulfilment of BiH’s international obligations,” High Representative Inzko said.

The High Representative also stressed his full support for the existing indirect taxation system as one of the country’s major success stories and called on Minister Spiric as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Indirect Taxation Authority to ensure that the reform achievements be preserved to the benefit of all citizens of BiH.
