5,948 packets of contraband cigarettes have been seized at Kapitan Petko Voyvoda checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Greek border in the night, chief commissary Zaharin Penov, director of Border Police DG, told FOCUS News Agency.

Two cars with Bulgarian license plate numbers arrived from Greece at the checkpoint on Saturday at about 10:20 p.m. local time.
The checkpoint staff carried out a check and found 5,948 packets of cigarettes from two brands, or about 12 master cases of cigarettes. The drivers of the vehicles are Bulgarian nationals.
They and the cars are detained. Pre-trial proceedings were opened, said the police chief.
