Agreement reached on candidate for new NBS Governor

The NBS council will formally relieve current governor Radovan Jelasic of his duty on 6 April, adding that the procedure for appointing a new candidate will take approximately two months.

Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic stated yesterday that agreement has been reached about the candidate for the new governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), adding that the candidate’s name will soon be made public.

Cvetkovic told the Beta news agency that the NBS council will formally relieve current governor Radovan Jelasic of his duty on 6 April, adding that the procedure for appointing a new candidate will take approximately two months.

The Prime Minister said several candidates were considered, and agreement was finally reached about the one estimated to be the most suitable for this position.
