Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic said that in line with a decree the government adopted today, citizens will be given subsidised loans for purchase of PCs made in Serbia.

Dinkic, who visited the ComTrade company together with Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society Jasna Matic, said that the purpose of this decree is to enable all citizens to buy PCs under favourable terms.

He explained that the monthly instalment during the first year of repayment for a basic PC configuration will be between RSD 200 and RSD 300, and during the second and third year, it will be between RSD 2,200 and RSD 3,000.

The subsidised consumer loans will have an annual interest rate of 7.5%, a three-year repayment period and one-year grace period.

Dinkic said that in two weeks the government will adopt a decree on subsidised loans for the purchase of home-made software.

Director of ComTrade Veselin Jevrosimovic said that over 450,000 PCs were sold in Serbia in 2008, while in 2009, that number dropped to 350,000.

Jevrosimovic said that owing to the government’s decree, over 440,000 PCs will be sold this year.
