The international trade fair in Tirana, held November 25-30, is being attended by 28 participants from Serbia. Serbia's Business Day, staged during the fair, gathered numerous diplomats, politicians and economists of the country.

Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha opened the 17th Panair-International Trade Fair in Tirana, where he, before all, visited the Serbian stand and talked with Serbian Ambassador to Tirana Miroljub Zaric and other representatives from Serbia, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) released Monday.

The international trade fair in Tirana, held November 25-30, is being attended by 28 participants from Serbia. Serbia's Business Day, staged during the fair, gathered numerous diplomats, politicians and economists of the country.

Serbian Ambassador Zaric, Vice President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Mihailo Vesovic, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tirana Nikolin Jaka and representative of the USAID Competitiveness Project in Tirana Vincent Gamberale addressed the participants.

Vesovic and Jaka announced a visit of Albania's business delegation to Serbia at the beginning of 2011. Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy Ilir Meta thanked the many Serbian participants and called on all the companies from the country to invest in Albania.

Although a slight improvement has been made in the economic and other cooperation between Serbia and Albania over the past few years, the trade between the two countries is still at a low level and offers room for improvement, it was estimated.

The level of investments is also low, given that Serbia has invested EUR 3 million in Albania so far, whereas Albania's companies have not made any investments in Serbia. One of the main challenges faced by Serbia and Albania, CEFTA member states, is the need for further liberalization of trade and removal of obstacles in order to achieve economic growth, the PKS released.
