Qatar has recognized Kosovo's independence, Pristina media said Tuesday evening.

The Kosovo embassy in New York was officially notified of the decision, outgoing Kosovo Foreign Minister Vlora Citaku said.

The unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo has so far been recognized by 73 states, eight of them last year, the last being Tuvalu in November.
