According to the social program for resolving the status of employees in the company Zastava Cars only 70 workers are to remain in the company, while 910 are redundant.

About 1,200 of a total of approximately 1,600 workers who have until recently been employed at the factory Zastava Cars in Kragujevac stated their opinion Tuesday regarding offers from a social program for redundant employees, Director of the personnel and legal affairs directorate Margita Gavrilovic told Tanjug on the same day.

Gavrilovic said that the employees, who had been unable to come to Zastava's administration building on Tuesday due to objective reasons, could do that at 3 p.m. the following day.

According to the social program for resolving the status of employees in the company Zastava Cars, which was developed by the Ministry of Economy and accepted by the Main Board of the Zastava Independent Trade Union after several days of protests late last year, only 70 workers are to remain in the company, while 910 are redundant.

The program envisages that 47 workers move to the company Fiat Automobiles Serbia, while about 100 of them will be employed in the Zastava INPRO factory.

The Zastava Cars workers signed documents according to which their employment ends on January 5.

A total of 910 redundant employees, who will be registered with the national employment service over the next two years, signed statements in which they said whether they agree or not to attend a six-month retraining program.

The workers will be eligible for severance payments of EUR 300 euros per year of service starting from Wednesday. Those employees who opted for retraining will be getting RSD 22,000 a month this year and RSD 19,000 the next year.

During the current or next year, the factory Zastava Cars will officially cease to exist as a legal entity.
