Works on Corridor 11 going as planned

Minister of Infrastructure Milutin Mrkonjic and Montenegrin Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Andrija Lompar discussed today in Kotor implementation of road and rail project Corridor 11.

The Ministry of Infrastructure stated that the meeting discussed the current situation on the construction of the motorway through both countries, rail infrastructure, as well as the improvement of the current traffic between the two countries.

Mrkonjic informed Lompar that works on Corridors 10 and 11 are going at the agreed time schedule and that the first section of Corridor 11 in Serbia, from Ub to Lajkovac, will be completed by the end of this year.

He pointed out that tenders for two sections of Corridor 11, from Obrenovac to Ub and from Lajkovac to Ljig, are being prepared.

In addition to local construction companies, Turkish companies are also showing interest in the job, he said.

The meeting also discussed the project Cargo 10 in which the Montenegrin side has shown great interest bearing in mind the revitalisation of the Belgrade-Bar railway.

Lompar invited Serbian companies to participate in the upcoming privatisation of the Port of Bar and informed Mrkonjic that Chinese companies are interested in the construction of sections of Corridor 11 through Montenegro.

The ministers agreed to form a joint commission at the highest level in order to coordinate the construction of the road Corridor 11.

The meeting also discussed the improvement of conditions in air transport considering that the two countries have a joint agency for flight control, the statement added.
