Serbian agriculture sector records USD 112.9 million surplus

Serbia exported USD 185.3 million and imported USD 72.4 million in agriculture and food products in January, recording a USD 112.9 million surplus, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) announced Thursday.
Serbia exported USD 185.3 million and imported USD 72.4 million in agriculture and food products in January, recording a USD 112.9 million surplus, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) announced Thursday.
Serbia exported USD 185.3 million in agriculture and food products in January, which is a 58.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
It also accounts for 25.7 percent of Serbia's total exports.
In the same month, Serbia imported USD 72.4 million which is 13.5 percent more than January last year, and accounts for 5.6 percent of Serbia's total import. The import/export coverage ratio in January 2011 was 255.9 percent.
According to Stankovic, agriculture sectors achieved good foreign trade results thanks to its privileged status on the EU market, liberalization of trade with Western Balkan countries (CEFTA) and prevailing conditions of the global market.
