President of FAC of MFA of Serbia, Sonja Liht welcomed the arrest of Serbian war crimes suspect Ratko Mladic, assessing that Belgrade proved to be capable of fulfilling promises, and adding that she expects that this will make it possible for Serbia to obtain the EU candidate status and the date for the beginning of negotiations with the EU.

I have no doubts that Serbia will soon obtain the EU candidacy and the date for the beginning of negotiations. It is certain that ICTY Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz will now have to write a new report, Liht told Tanjug in a telephone statement from Brussels.

Liht, who attended a meeting organized by the European Parliament in Brussels, at which Serbia's role in regional relations was discussed, said that she expects this news will cause the Dutch parliament to ratify the Stabilization and Association Agreement.

Serbia has finally proven that it can fulfill its promises, Liht said, recalling Serbian President Boris Tadic's recent statement that Belgrade will do its best for Mladic to be arrested.
