One police officer was killed, and another seriously injured on Sunday, when a bomb was thrown at them in the village of Stari Ledinci (near Novi Sad).

One policeman from the police station in Petrovaradin and Jovan Martic from Stari Ledinci, the attacker's father, lost their lives, while policeman Sasa Marinkovic sustained serious injuries.
The accident happened on Sunday afternoon, when a police patrol arrived in Stari Ledinci responding to a family violence call.
A sister called the police reporting her brother for maltreating and threatening their father. When the two policemen arrived, the brother, Srecko Martic (36), detonated a hand grenade thus killing one policemen and his father Jovan Martic (62).
Police officer Marinkovic and the attacker sustained serious injuries. The latter is in a more critical condition and is hospitalized at the resuscitation department of the Clinical Centre of Vojvodina, where doctors are fighting for his life. An investigation into the matter is underway.
