Mrkonjic: Solution for JAT by end of year

Infrastructure Minister Milutin Mrkonjic stated on Nov. 2 that it will be known by the end of this year whether the state will form a new airline alone or in cooperation with a strategic partner.

Infrastructure Minister Milutin Mrkonjic stated on Nov. 2 that it will be known by the end of this year whether the state will form a new airline alone or in cooperation with a strategic partner.

Mrkonjic told reporters that a company which domestic experts find to be good, with a fleet of 20 planes and a profit of EUR25 million in 2010, applied for the tender for strategic partnership in the new air carrier.

Latvian company Baltic Aviation Systems was the only one to buy the documents for participating in the Serbian government's tender for strategic partnership in the new airline.

According to the program put together by consulting firm Deloitte, which the Serbian government accepted on July 26, the optimal model is to form to the new airline as a company dependent on JAT Airways, with a mandatory financial investment of EUR400,000.
