Kosovo Minister of Interior Bajram Redzepi said that the Pristina institutions will not take any unilateral actions in northern Kosovo, adding that he expects that most of the barricades will be removed by winter.

Kosovo Minister of Interior Bajram Redzepi said that the Pristina institutions will not take any unilateral actions in northern Kosovo, adding that he expects that most of the barricades will be removed by winter.

In an interview for the Voice of America, Redzepi said that the Kosovo institutions will not directly interfere in problems in northern Kosovo-Metohija, since, as he put it, this is now KFOR's responsibility.

He also voiced belief that suspects for murder of Kosovo police officer Enver Zumberija, against whom the Interpol issued warrants, will be arrested and extradited to Kosovo.

Redzepi noted that barricades are hindering the search, but, however, added that Serbia and Montenegro are obliged to execute the warrant, and arrest the suspects and extradite them to Kosovo.

According to him, KFOR can dismantle all barricades in a day or two, but they want to do it gradually. He said that the barricades are related to interests of different criminal groups, oil smugglers, but also local politicians, a number of whom are radical and connected with certain Serbian opposition parties.

Redzepi added that the freedom of movement is an intern. standard and it should be applied to KFOR,
