KFOR authorities announced that repairs of the bridge in Loziste on the road toward Jarinje administrative crossing would continue on Monday, noting that bridge repairs require unconditional freedom of movement for heavy machinery.

The bridge in Loziste, on the road between Zvecan and Leposavic, needs to be repaired urgently because of severe damages to the bridge construction, KFOR officials released earlier.

As of November 7, for security reasons KFOR will continue with repair works which were launched before September 16, KFOR stated last Thursday. The repairs require unconditional freedom of movement for heavy machinery in order to complete the works, KFOR underscored.

KFOR authorities stated that only one open lane is not enough to ensure passage of their vehicles and that during the meeting last Wednesday, representatives of four municipalities refused to let the vehicles pass.

This is contrary to the announcements voiced by representatives of northern Kosovo municipalities, who promised full freedom of movement for KFOR, KFOR Commander Gen. Maj. Erhard Drews said and expressed surprise that representatives of four northern municipalities have no understanding for considerable benefits which the repairs may bring to the local population. Safety of citizens should be at the top of everyone's list of priorities, Drews said.
