Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic stated on Nov. 24 that the government is ready to "present a new document" on Kosovo, but pointed out that it is trying to muster broad support in the Parliament.

When asked by a deputy of the Democratic Party of Serbia, about why the government had not delivered the declaration on Kosovo to the Parliament, Cvetkovic replied that an idea existed about bringing in "one more paper," but that "an overwhelming" majority in the Parliament was needed for it.

The prime minister said that there was no such majority because, in his words, political parties were looking after their own interests, because of which this document on Kosovo could not be adopted.

He also said that the government had prepared the report on the situation in Kosovo, which it is obliged to present to the Parliament on a quarterly basis, and presented it on time.

Cvetkovic said that the government had not introduced electricity restrictions and sanctions against the Serbs in northern Kosovo, adding that it is helping the population with all its capacity, financially and in every other way.
